Ivan’s ladder

Stopmotion/animation entirely made of digital photographs edited on computer, 2’00”

Ivan is a pianist made of wire who plays a human piano.

He is trying to go up on the musical scale in order to achieve a superior level of his existence.

As soon as he thinks he’s at the highest point of the hierarchy he actually realises that he will never be a human being, and that he has to accept his condition of an object.

This is the metaphor of any human’s desire to be more than he is, to be God.

God exists so even when you’re on the last step of the spiritual ladder you’re still a human being who can fall instantly and who will never become God.

Why Czech Republic?

110 stickers (10x6cm) | a “street art” project made in BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC during ERASMUS study exchange programme.

ERASMUS brings together people who choose to study for a semester or more in another European country. My experience there began with this question: Why did you choose to come here? Why Czech Republic? It was so normal to put this question to any of the foreigners there that I decided to put it to everybody and after that tell the answers to the people actually living there in Czech Republic. I wrote the question on stickers and gave them to ERASMUS students to write the answer directly on them, the only specific task being to write their name and the country they come from. The result was quite surprising for me also,as a fairly general answer emerged from putting all of them together. I asked also some people who know Czech language and came from other countries to study in czech or to work, the same task as that of ERASMUS students. Their answers in czech are due to make the project a bit more understandable for the Czech people who don’t speak English.|This photographic series documents all the stickers in the project and some of them sticked on the streets in the center of the city Brno.
